Library Access Policies

Access to the Health Sciences Library is available to individuals with currently valid identification cards from the following:
  • Columbia University
  • New York-Presbyterian - Active staff or residents only
  • New York State Psychiatric Institute
  • Barnard College
  • Teachers College
  • Union Theological Seminary
  • Cards issued by the Library Information Office of Columbia University
  • Research Libraries Group (RLG) institutions outside of New York City
  • Academic Health Sciences Centers in the New York metropolitan area -- FACULTY ONLY

Paid Privileges (for unaffiliated individuals)

Until further notice, the Health Sciences Library will not be granting new paid-privilege memberships. The library has temporarily suspended this service because of planned construction in 2008. Existing access agreements will be honored until their expiration dates.

Health sciences library research can be conducted, free-of-charge, at the New York Academy of Medicine library.

The above policies apply only to the Columbia University Medical Center Health Sciences Library.
