SCOPE AND CONTENT: Medical records, photographs and printed matter documenting Bogle’s career as a U.S. Army surgeon during World War II. Included are two volumes of field hospital journals; approximately 225 wartime black & white snapshots of Bogle and his colleagues; two articles by Bogle; and 5 glass plate black and white slides. The journals list date, name and rank of patient, diagnosis, operation, and results, as well as the name of the surgeon, assistant, and anesthesiologist, for surgery performed on U.S. and Allied soldiers, civilians, and prisoners of war. Interspersed are occasional diary notes about what division was being supported, location, a trip to Paris and other personal matters. The photographs show Bogle, both individually and with others; tent hospitals; operating scenes; camp scenes; landscapes and street scenes; bombed areas; refugees; soldiers and other wartime scenes. They were taken in England, France, Germany, Austria and the United States. One photograph shows General Patton conferring with men in an unidentified location. World War, 1939-1945 – Medical care.
