Physiologist, medical historian, and book collector. Faculty member, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, 1870-1909.


SCOPE AND CONTENT :
Annotated manuscript of Curtis's book of the same title, undated but probably c. 1907-1913.. It was originally delivered before the Johns Hopkins Hospital Historical Club in 1907. After Curtis's death, Frederic Schiller Lee, his successor as Professor of Physiology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, took responsibility for having the work published by the Columbia University Press in 1915.
