1 volume (58 leaves)

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

Register kept by Assistant Surgeon George B. McKnight, U.S.N. (d. 1857) aboard the U.S. Schooner Experiment. The volume lists in tabular form 207 incidents of illness or injury, with entries that include name, age, rank, disease, admission and discharge dates, and remarks. Following this are narrative accounts of cases, though it is not clear whether all the cases listed in the table are mentioned here. From notes in the register, it appears the Experiment left Norfolk, Va. for the Caribbean in Fall, 1833. It stopped at Martinique, Santo Domingo, and Jamaica, before reaching Pensacola, Fl. in January, 1834. Capt. Thomas Paine was its commander.
